Problem with New Install
Personal pref is to ground each amp seperately to a very solid location if at all possible (always nice to find a 10mm bolt somewhere close that you can scrape off some paint and mount your ground there). Both can be grounded to the same point - but with seperate wires (short as possible).
Not saying it would not work, just saying I would not do it that way. Of course it may make it easier to clean up the install.

Mike,
Since there is some problems with your audio system, it may be the Memphis amp (or it may not, I do not know for sure). I am extending the satisfaction warranty from 30 days to 3 months from the days the amp is installed in your S. If for any reason, you are not 110% satisfy with the amp and you like to get another amp, I will give you full refund plus I will pay for the gas up to 20% of the purchased price. I also give you full refund + gas if the amp break down within 1 year from the day it is installed in your car. I am so sorry that it does not perform flawlessly in your car. Just call me any time when you want your money back. I am not happy (actually, I felt very bad the last couple day) if you are not 110% satisfy with your system because the potential problem with the amp.
I have a thought that I like to ask: since you have 2 amps, do you need to have a power distribution box ?
If you do, then it should be fused with a 50 amp fuse at battery, and 30 amp fuses at the distribution block.

hrm... well, beyond a wrong impedence, there are many things that can trigger the amp into protect (including various unexpected grounding issues).

my personal preferences differ a little from William's, but very little (i usually try to find an unpainted bolt vs scraping paint from the body - unless i can't get a good ground.).
however, i wouldn't daisy chain a ground either... sounds like that could be related to your issue.
how are the power wires hooked up? how are you fused? TR-S2K's suggestion on fusing is dead on...
imo, for multi-amp installs, i usually try to run both amps to the same ground point, or run short runs to a grounding distro block, and then ground that block.
jeez, i know 'good' stores that wouldn't do this...

jeez, i know 'good' stores that wouldn't do this... Mike (Nicotunes) is very nice and easy going guy. I think it is my obigation to make him happy. He did not complain about the amp at all, but it is my responsibity to make it right at my own cost. It is not fair that Nicotunes gets less than perfect working system in his car because it may be the amp problem(s).
Personally, I would prefer to run a distro. box whenever you run more than 1 amp.....just my preference, though. Not sure if it is required...
And the guy was blaming it on the amp!!?!? If he screwed something SO simple as that up....I would be looking at the install immediately.
I would take it to another shop. Pay for the troubleshoot (usually like $45). If they find that the wiring is to blame, bring the bill to the original shop, and request $45 for payment. If they argue, tell them that they vouched for the install, and blamed the amp, which obviously would not be the issue.
TR-S2k - If Nico returns the amp....I got dibs!
John
(the installer) also reversed the rear left and right speakers

I treat people as they treat me, and Hoat has been friendly, fair, and also easy-going.
I'm not worried.

I am going to have Nsxnext1's tech look at it, this week I hope. John (the installer) also reversed the rear left and right speakers, so I will get that fixed too...I THOUGHT it sounded strange in the car when all four cabin speakers were on!!

This same installer did TR-S2k's install last year and did a great job.
Even my install is clean and nice, but I have a feeling he rushed things once he ran into these issues.....
When this amp is on
it is incredible....
