Hi, again!
For my info:
With your new amp and setup, I imagine that you are having to set your amp gain very low so it does not overpower the rears too much that are connected to the HU. is this true?
thanks!
Mike

Yes, I am setting the amp gain fairly low. What I try to do is the main sound is from the front speakers, the rear speakers are for filled only. My estimate is that the front speakers are driven with power about 9-10 times as much as rear speakers.
Since the rears are driven from HU's powers and most good after market HU should be able to produce about 15-20 Wrms. The Kappa Perfect 6.1 is rated at around 90 Wrms, Nakamichi CD400 has maximum volume at 60, I tried to tune my system such that with volume set at 45, the amp will produce about 90-100 Wrms and the HU will produce about 10-12 Wrms, this will be the maximum volume that I will never cross over.
This is how I tuned my system:
1. With amp's gain at minimum, amp's crossover at 50 Hz, HU volume set at 45 and fader control to front only, I'd slowly inrease the amp gain until I hear some distortion from front speakers, I then turned the gain back a litlle until no distortion.
2. I slowly adjusted the fader to the rear speakers until I can start hearing the music from the rear speakers. I took note of the fader first position.
3. The fader was adjusted to rear speakers only, then I slowly turned the fader forward until I could not hear the rear speaker anymore. I took note of the fader second position.
4. The final setting is the fader was set at the midlle of the two positions. In my case, it was +2 rear
5. I re-adjusted the amp's gain down a little to compensate for the +2 rear above, then adjusted fader to center.
The result is a very faint ambience sound from the rear speakers and the dominant sound source is from the front speakers.

Did your ears not hurt when you turned your front amp up that high??

Yes, my ears ring a little while I was tunning it with engine off and the car was in garage. It was so loud that my wife can hear the music in the family room which is about 40 feet from the car and behind closed door.
Off topic, do you have seat locks from Kodokan ?

I got a set of seat locks (4 locks) from Kodokan. I did not care if my car is stolen because I will get to buy a new car with insurance payout, but I do not like to have the seats stolen by Civic ricers, then I could not drive it at all.
I am using only one lock per seat on the outer seat rail, I have 2 locks in my garage closet that I can sent it to you along with the key. This seat locks is similar to wheel locks, each lock set comes with a specific key to install or remove.

I am watching this thread too, Nicotune is having his system looked at today.

I got only 1 key for my seat locks. Since I do not think that I will ever remove the seat for any reason, I do not need the key. If for unexpected incident, I should be able to borrow it back from Nicotune.

Turns out there is an IC or relay in the amp that is bad, according to Nsxnext1's tech. Grounding OK, install generally OK, though the audio cables are cheesy. Wired to battery with fuse OK.
TR-S2K, I'll be contacting you, but I will contact Memphis to see what my repair options are...
Thanks for all your input!'
Mike
Hi Mike,
I am so sorry to hear that. I do not think that fixing the amp is a good option. It is best for you to get a good 2-channel amp with about 100Wrms for your front speakers. PM me your address, I will send you the refund (120% of purchase pirce as pomised) so that you have the fund to buy another amp. Keep the Memphis amp for now, until either you have a chance to go down to Orange County then stop by my home to drop it off, or when I have a chance to go up north, I will stop by to pick it up.
I had no idea why it worked in my S without a hitch, then it became disabled in your system
