Problem with RSX Bose sub
I just installed the Bose sub in my trunk, the thing doesn't sound too bad. However, I'm getting a very annoying rattle-ish kinda sound, sounds almost as if the sub is bottoming out. I only get this sound only when I stuff it back into the spare tire compartment along with the spare tire. If I take them out and just leave it in the trunk, it sounds ok.
I also tried to turn the bass down, but didn't help, and I tried to turn the gain knob on the Bose sub amp, and for some reason it didn't have any effect.
Is it just the spare tire compartment creating a hollow sound effect? I haven't gotten around to insulating that part of the car yet, but would it eliminate this annoying noise?
I tried to search around but all I found was the popping sound during turn on/off problem...

search is your friend. There has been a lot of stuff about this, but I think the consensus is that the Bose RSX sub is crap. It really does not work well in the S2000, because of the sealed trunk. It was designed for use in a hatchback.... much easier to get sound through in one of those!
I think you also need to modify the wiring harness to get it to work in the S2000.... There is a whole DIY thread on here somewhere on how to cannibalize one to make it work, but why? For the same $ (or close), you could probably get a slim-line sub and one of Darkknight1999's new slim-flush boxes....
Also, what level input are you using?
To each his own...

anyway, back to the topic, I've already gotten it to hook up (using aftermarket HU sub out) and as I have mentioned, it sounds fine when I leave it in the trunk. The problem is when I stuff it into the spare tire (still fine) then into the spare tire well, then I hear this horrible echoing popping noise which sounds similar to when a speaker bottoms out, even at the lowest volume. I've tried to stuff insulation around the sub and the spare, but didn't help. Again, it's fine when I just leave it in the trunk.
