Default Question for all the MB Quart component owners

Im looking to buy a set of the Mb Quart component system and was wondering which one would be an all around best buy? Im most likely going to end up purchasing a amp and also a headunit either pioneer deh 9300 or sony md player. I know theres a PSC, RSC, RSD and a DSD component system. If theres anyone thats installed these systems please let me know on how they sound and the installation. Im wondering how hard it would be to fit the woofers into the door.

I have the RSC-213's installed. I believe the 216's will fit as well.
The sound from these speakers are top notch. Great clarity at
low and high volumes. I highly recommend them to anybody.
They are hooked up to an Alpine head unit and separate amp.
Had them installed, so I can't comment on how easy the
installation would be... These speakers were my first
experience with the MB Quart brand and I was more than
satisfied.....

Definitely good speakers. I have the PSC-216s. They are NOT drop in speakers in the stock baskets, though. You will need to find or fabricate an adapter for these to fit in place of the stock basket.
I heard the highs could be very bright in comparison to other speakers, so I mounted them near the driver's and passenger's knees (I posted a pic http://216.120.113.130/forums/showthread.p...&threadid=33305 )
They sound great. Loud enough at freeway speed with the top and windows down. I'm only supplying them with 60 watts per channel.

I thought about the Reference series, but I drive top down 95% of the time, and the difference in quality between the Premium Series (PSC) and Reference Series (RSC) would be negligible when you throw in all the environment / engine noise

Good luck!

so basically,

relatively speaking any competent speaker shop can install the mb quart speakers with no problems? i am kinda worried about how much space is in the doors and if i have to shave/ cut anything that would be permanent. well i am most likely picking up the RSC series and connecting them to a 100 x 2 amp. dunno the brand and i am most likely picking up a pioneer headunit. also ill probably copy dj qubes location for installing the tweeters, looks real good by the way

hey chuckjoy,
when you installed those 5 1/4 speakers was there any problems with the installation. im thinking that since there smaller then the size of the original speaker a custom bracket might be needed to install the speaker. or i can be wrong on this. well please let me know because i think im gonna order the same things you got.

I installed PSC216 myself. I did not have to fabricate anything. Remove old bracket, screw new bracket to door metal (comes with speakers). Attach speakers. Did it on a weekend with no prior experience.

I guess there was one small issue. I had to dremel off a little material from the bottom of the bracket so the door cover would fit back on. Maybe a quarter inch. A sanding adaptor for a power drill would work as well if you don't have a dremel.

I believe there are PSDs available now (new version).

The PSC has the 1" tweeter with a lower frequency crossover. I thought this was important because the main speaker is frequently partially obstructed.

I recall the difference was small. I think the PSDs can play lower notes by a 10 or 20Hz. Check out the mbQuart web site for more details.
