electrical tape.

although soldering the wires then putting heat shrink on them would be a vastly better idea.

I would go w/ the heatshrink... I hate dealing w/ stereo's that had electrical tape installed w/ them... the glue crap gets all over the place and is just a PITA to deal with...

Soldering iron: $20 or so at Radio Shack
Solder: $4 or whatever
Heat Shrink: a couple more bucks (I don't suggest the radio shack plastic crap heat shrink though, home depot has some better shrink)

But in the end you'll have a solid connection if you solder it correctly and less mess if you ever need to mess with anything later.

shrink wrap is just like a straw, made of a rubberish material.

You slide a piece on the wire, connect them, and then put the heatshrink over it and heat it a little.. it will shrink, and be a much better connection than the electrical tape.

+1 on working with wires after they had tape on them... not fun at all.

at least do crip caps over using electrical tape. you can buy a crimper, and caps at Sears or any other hardware store.

I bought a heat gun for $20... I LOVE IT. I thought it was going to be a buy-and-return (WalMart style) but I've had it for years and is vastly useful for heat shrink tubing, paint removal, etc.
