Most tests put the Valentine 1 on top. I have one and the arrows are invaluable. The only place (other than used on ebay) I know to but one is at their website and they aren

This has been discussed, ALOT in the electronics forum.

The Passport 8500 and the Valentine V1 were rated about equally with some giving the not to V1 and others to 8500, but in virtuall all tests they finished 1 and 2.

The Passport 8500 is much cheaper than the V1

Passport also just released an updated version of the 8500 with enhanced range and a couple of new features. That is the 8500 x50. I don't see how the V1 could beat it now in any practical and unbiased test.

hardwire it and run it behind the trimming. you'd be surprised how easy it really is, and i'm by no means a good electrician. the V1 kit comes with the goods for hardwiring, but i can't speak for the passport since i've never owned one. here's my setup:

Passport 8500 X50!

It's great and a great value compared to the Valentine. My friends and I have the V1, X50 and 8500. All work damn good.

The Passport is also easy to hardwire. Check the electronics forum for more info, places to buy, DIY hardwire, etc.

I have the V1 and like it very much. The Passport looks better, though. Either one is a good choice of radar detectors.
