I am going by the fact that most sources will tell you that on KA band the 8500 is comparable to the V1. The V1 only have the advantage over the 8500 on laser (and the fact you pick up less false alerts on X band).

Now...knowing that the X50 is much improved over the 8500 (I have both in my cars right now so know this as FACT), I am deducing that the X50 has better range than the V1.

Im not sure there are tests yet of the V1 vs X50....im just using logic.
I don't mean to offend you, but which sources? Here is what I go by: http://www.caranddriver.com/article.asp?se...3&page_number=1

Again, this is what I am talking about. Show me an independent test, and I'll be the first one to say I was wrong! If you believe that your detector is better that's fine, and it is possible, I just want to see proof of this. Independent tests by a reputable source.

Car and driver gives 8500 a close second to V1, but V1 is better. Maybe yours is really great, please show me where you saw that. I am not trying to be a jerk, but there is a LOT of carefully constructed misinformation about radar and laser out there. I did a lot of research on this at one point.

Peace.

If you have an X50 for the purpose of detecting POP, remember that this comes from the factory DISABLED and you have to turn it on yourself using the E-Z programming.

Does anyone have any experience with PNI detectors? A friend has a brand new PNI Sensoro travelor cordless (still in box) that he was going to give me for free. I am not as interested in the free part (although always nice), I am more interested to hear if it is going to give me a false sense of security (another words-do they work)

I looked them up on-line and they are $150 new.
