Default Radio Help

Hey guys, this is more of a general question rather than a s2000 specific question.

I have a JVC KD-AVX44, and I've had it for quite awhile installed in the car. As of recently I've noticed the display doesn't come on in the morning (or when it's cold) but if I push up against the faceplate, the display will come on.

Everything else works, I can hit a button and it'll change the song or volume or whatever, but the display and button illumination doesn't work. And when it comes on, it'll flicker, then come on. And if I hit a bump, the display will also flicker.

So is it safe to say that the contacts on the back of the face plate is going to poo? And if this is the case, is there anyway to pry the contacts out so they extend out a bit further?

My Clarion in another car does similar things. I bent a paperclip in a hook shape and pull the pins out on the HU every few months. The crappy part about my Clarion, is if they start to lose connection, the whole unit shuts off. I am not sure about your specific HU, but if you think the pins can be bent out a bit, try it. Just don't go crazy with it, if they do not want to bend out, don't force them, you may break them.

hmm I looked at my HU and the pins are weird on it, it's like a T-Shape...maybe I can try to bend the pins out on the deck itself. Thanks for the tip though

Also use electrical contact cleaner sparingly.
