Hi everyone,

We just brought home a 2001 white/red with only 5,000 miles on it. Love it in every way except the stereo. It sounds really tinny, and the midrange is too loud compared to bass and treble, even when they are adjusted.

We also read that the remote controls will not work if you replace the stereo. Has anyone had the same problem, or know of a good solution?

the basics are...

you can use the factory controls with Pinky's mod.

any aftermarket 1 DIN sized head unit will fit.

the stock speakers are slightly smaller then 6.5" and most 6.5" fit, but a few don't without some adustments (infinity kappa 63.3i's and JL Audio XR650's I know take a little work to fit)

Lucid sells a 6.5" adapter but it doesnt' create a seal with the speaker hole, so you would loose a little bit of the aucoustics to that

lucid also sells a rear 5 1/4" kit to put speakers behind the driver and passanger seats

i have a custom setup in my S2000 with JL Audio XR650 speakers, JVC KS-AX6500 amplifier, KD-SX850 head unit, and IDQD2V2 subwoofer with 12 guage wire ran to everything (amp power wire is 4 guage)

Just changing out the speakers and adding a power amp makes a huge difference.
