Default Rear Speakers

I just got my 04 S 12 days ago and I am planning on having a new system installed soon. Can anyone one give me there recommendation on going with the sPods or some rear speakers mounted behind the seats. Also if mounting speakers behind the seats what type of speaker is recommended and what is needed for the install. Also is a new head unit necessary or can you continue to use the stock unit with some new speakers and amps. I currently have some equipment from my old car. I would like to utilize as much as possible. I have a Rockford Fosgate Punch (when bridged to one channel = 200 watts) and a 10" Polk Audio sub for the Lows. I also a a 4 channel 200 Watt Alpine amp for the mids and highs. I believe I should be able to use this stuff, but I am not sure about the speakers I have. I have a set of Boston Aocustic 6x9s and a set of Mb Quartz 5.25 separates with 2" tweeters. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not completely un-biased on the subject because I make the S-Pods, but...
A customer of mine had speakers behind the rear seats, and switched them to S-Pods. Same day, same speakers, same car, only the location changed and they sounded much better in S-Pods. Only 5.25 coax or components will fit the S-Pods, no chance for your 6x9's. It sounds to me like you could use all of your old equipment except the 6x9's, and just get some new 6.5 components for the front. Bottom line: speakers behind the seats are a big improvement over stock, and S-Pods are a big improvement over those. I'm NOT trying to hard sell you, just wanted to add my .02.

p.s. if you do decide to get S-Pods, I'll need the exact dimensions of those 2" tweets, and info about the MB mounting brackets before you purchase. MB's are the most difficult speakers on the market to mount because they use dimensions completely different than anyone else. They have been successfully mounted in S-Pods before though.

Marks 2002,

If I decide to purchase the sPoods from you, how long will it take for me to get them, lets just say if I go with standard 5.25" coax or separates (not the MB Quartz)? Also do you provide any kind of warranty with the sPods? How much will they cost in standard black leather for the set? Also are they fairly easy to install, and can most professional installers install them with ease? Thanks.

I ship within 1 business day of recieving payment, but am planning to take a couple weeks off next month, so we would need to plan around that. (I'll most likely have a friend handle orders for me so there will be no interuption in service.)Most domestic orders are recieved in 5-7 days. I charge $10 to ship by ground, $15-$20 for 3 day select, and 2nd day air is $25+. Cost for the S-Pods is $240 by check, figure $7-$8 more if you want to use PayPal(fastest) + shipping. Most do-it-yourselfers have no problems installing them. They are very easy for any competent pro. If you recieved them and weren't happy with quality or construction, I would refund the purchase price, but not shipping. I have many, many happy customers worldwide and no one has wanted to return a set to date.

If you really like the MB's, they will work. Just may be a PIA and need you to ship them to me to insure a good fit.

Thanks,
Mark
