Recommended Speakers...?
Hopefully somebody can chime in for me.
I'm looking into buying a set of component speakers for my car, and I wanted to know what set you'd recommended for my particular needs.
I have an amp already that'll do 100wrms per channel, and I really don't want to swap it out (shipping + trying to sell it + price of new amp + headache = no thanks). So by that standard, it rules out almost every component set on the market, but I know there are a few that can take that kind of power. For example, the Polk db6500.
Money is not a big concern, but I'd like to keep the set under $300.
Also, I know the S2000 is picky about what will fit. If it isn't too much to ask, please note any additional hardware I'll need to install the speakers.
As for what I want from sound: I don't expect anything crystal clear. The cabin's too loud for me to be able to appreciate amazing sound clarity. But I really want some more depth and definitely some punch in the bass (and nope, don't want to deal with the additional weight of a subwoofer).
So............. Any advice?

Few component speakers that can take 100 watts per channel??? I would guess that MOST component speakers can take that and then some. You are more likely to damage your speakers when underpowered than overpowered unless you are running a LOT more than 100.
I do not know about fitment, but right at the $300 range you can pick up the Diamond Hex component speakers. I have these in another vehicle, running them off of a 75 X 2 amp (rated, bench tested at 100) that sound incredible. Like any system, they are best complemented by a sub for lows, but on their own provide deep punchy base compared to other similar speakers. The tweeters provide amazing clarity (back in the day when I bought mine, you could choose either silk or aluminum tweeters; the aluminum were too harsh for me.....I love the silk).
Here is the info on the speakers: http://www.diamondaudio.com/content/view/100/110/ It says that mounting depth is 2.3", which I imagine would fit. The crossovers are somewhat bulky, so I don't know where you would mount those (not sure if they would fit inside door).

Actually I think your amp may be underpowered for many of the components for sale.
If you going to keep your amp, Shop for speaker effeciency rather than more costly and less effecient speakers.
I installed the Polk DB6500 set that are rated at 100w continous ,300w peak. witch a 100w amp IMO is only adequate but should be plenty considering the sound is now powered only by the HU and sounds fine.
With your amp this is the range or slight less if anything exists at these lower power range demands.
