Default repairing PPI 356CS component

this morning, the woofer began distorting then stopped working. the tweeters and other woofer work perfectly fine so i'm assuming i blew that one woofer. i emailed PPI but they said it's out of warranty and no longer being produced and suggested i look into the PM.65NEO (http://www.precisionpower.com/html-v.../PM-65NEO.html). anyone have experience with these or suggest a replacement woofer of comparable sounds? i really enjoyed my 356CS and want something identical to it. and since everything works besides that one woofer, i'm interested in replacing just that one speaker.

update: my speaker is not broken. it only works when i apply very very light pressure on the cone while the power is on. then and only then will it produce sounds. online searches suggest that there may be a bad tinsel lead. my question now is how am i supposed to repair and solder the leads if there is literally no space for me to work?! am i going to have to take it apart?! and is there such a profession as "speaker repairman?" if so, how much would this repair cost?

would it be a bad idea to have something pressed on the the perimeter of the cone so the tinsel leads make contact? i'm thinking of some strips of foam that'll be strategically place on the perimeter of the cone so it can be pressed against the door panel.

and is it bad that my system is still fully powered but one speaker isn't operating as suggested?

what i am suggesting is putting foam on the 'surround' section (shown in the image above) so it has some pressure on the cone to make sound. is that a bad idea?

I have the same speakers, sorry to hear what happened. One time I had a smilar problem with some Infinity Kappas, but I could see the break in the tinsel lead, placed some flexible copper wire on the break and spread some silicon caulking glue on it. It worked fine until the foam surrounds began to dissolved then I replaced the speakers. You could check ebay and see if anyone is selling parts of the PPI 356, it not check with a raw speaker sellers like parts express and buy one something similar, they have detailed specs.

Good luck
