question abt audio system
Hi guys
i have boston acoustics rc61 from my old car. still in good condition most part. but 1 tweeter and 1 passive crossover doesn't work anymore due to the water damage. my question is can i use old speakers with different passive crossovers and tweeters.
i'm thinking replacing passive crossover and tweeter. or buy 2 passive crossovers and 2 tweeters , then use with the old speakers. is it possible? and what kind of tweeters should i buy to compatible with our s2000. or any better set up suggestions will be appreciated. thanks.

I wouldn't say it's not going to be optimal.
Many manufacturers use similar xover frequencies so switching between manufacturers isn't terrible, and may, in fact, create a better sound for you.
Could always switch to an active x-over system and then it makes absolutely no difference whether your tweeters match the woofers you're putting in - you set your own xover frequencies.
Realistically, bottom line, you're not going to hurt your woofers or tweeters using xovers from a diff manufacturer and if you're picky you can very well improve the sound. Remember, what one manufacturer says is good or 'perfect' setup doesn't mean that applies to everyone - everyone's ears are different.
