I have a MY01 and I was thinking I may order the stock tweeter grills from a MY03 or later to retrofit my alpine tweeters for a stock look. Has anybody done this yet? If so, what are the size and fitment limitations for the tweeters? Pictures are always appreciated!

i found that the stock location is not that good for staging
IMO you are better off placing your tweeter near the mid or high up on the windsreen pillar

 

I think it will work fine, if your handy with a Dremel, it will make your life a lot easier.
And with the whole imaging thing, you'll just have to find speakers that come with a good adjustable crossovers. You could also, cut the tweeter pod a little for a better angle or angel the tweeter itself if it has that capability.

BTW I had a pair of top of the range Rockford 6.5 2ways component with 7878r alpine deck. I could practically adjust as much treble as I wish The staging was better than stock but still terrible with the tweeter in that location. I will be removing them very shortly. I was going with a 3 ways component but have changed my mind. Iwill be putting 2 sets of MB Quart 5.25" 2 ways splits in the stock 6.5" location. I wil mount the tweeters in the same location as the 5.25" mid.

I think you will get better staging and more mid that way.

I wish that you live near me. I'll trade you my door panel so you don't have to do any drilling <sight>
