Rockford Fosgate HU
dude, it's alright man... chill.
the point is that this RF unit is a 'one of' type thing that RF did to try and gain a bit of attention and it retailed for $2k originally, and it IS made by Denon and not just anyone. in fact, i've seen pics of the Denon unit, and they are identical in appearance.
and if you're putting Sony and Denon on the same block -- now i'm having a doubt or two... my experiences with Denon gear vs Sony are night and day. sure, Denon isn't the nicest gear, but it definitely isn't Sony. and the normal RF HU's i've seen don't hold a candle to Sony...

Thank you all for replying to my questions.
Phil (Ruined2), please do not get upset with "all-trick'd-out"'s opinions, he just tried to tell me what is his thinking. I may ended up buying this RF HU today, which is against your advice but your opinions are appreciated very much.
Phil (PJK3), Thank You very much for your help again. I told you few days ago that I will ask for your advices when time come to change the HU, I am doing it now. I am a simple man, I like simple things, I am easily intimidated with sophisticated equipments, the more features a HU has, the less likely I will be able to use most of it. IF this RF HU HAS FADER CONTROL along with volume, bass, treble and balance, then that all I will ever needed.
The specs do not say anything about fader control, that make me worry a little.
Okay, I am ignoring this "Balanced 8V line outputs with dual mini-DIN connectors" of the RF HU.
Dave, do not upset man.
I am in needed of your advices about this RF HU, what do you think ? Do you like it ?

My original post was just to give my opinion and share my experience about, what I feel is an inferior head unit. I've installed, sold, serviced thousands of them, you've bought, what 10?
edit:
btw, TR-S2K - i'm going to do some serious reading before answering this... give me a bit.
PJK3 - Understood, but I was generalizing about Rockford head units overall.
TR-S2K - None of this is directed at you, and you didn't piss me off. It was all the statements after mine, which I thought was harmless, silly me. My responses were directed at the quotes listed in each one of my posts. Sorry if you misunderstood that, I meant nothing at all to you but to help you out.
Jesus, you guys act like YOU'RE the salesmen here.

TR-S2K -- how do you have your sub hooked up to provide them with signal? weren't we in parallel w/ your speakers?
Pros:
very good DAC
should have high quality sound
simplicity
TOSLINK digital input
RCA Aux inputs
copper noise resistant chassis
audiophile grade piece
clean look
will match stock illumination
Cons:
rare - possibly hard to get serviced
only 2 outputs, front and rear. no sub output, which could make it difficult to connect and balance in the Bose sub.
no internal amp at all.
no MP3 play.
no changer add on option
no built in XM expandability
no IR input (remote), so no dash controls
if you can live w/ the cons... this is a great head unit. but it's way overkill in some ways, and lacking in others. it's a strange unit to balance into the equation, unless you're deliberately seeking the super high quality output.
just as an example -- an Alpine 9827 is also pretty darn barebones and would be something you could get for $50+ less. not to mention, it would probably fit your needs a whole lot better. there are also other brands out there like Clarion and Pioneer which make good HU's for less than the Alpine (though probably more 'feature' laden and gadgety).
me? i love this HU. it has the ultimate in sound quality, high end outputs to match my Adcom, barebones build, etc. i'd give up my Alpine's crossovers, MP3 playability, changer options, etc. for this. but i'd also lose my dash controls, which is the only thing stopping me.
you? do you really need the SQ? is it worth losing so many options and features? can your system really exploit it?
i know the answer to the last one... probably not.
in the end, it's still your call, but imo - you're giving up a lot of options and flexibility for just a 'simplicity' interface.
(btw - for all you observers out there. don't start
with me b/c i recommended an Alpine. )
