Default RSX Type S Sub/Amp

If I pull the Sub/Amp out of a Type S for $100 and then mount it into my car, would it be worth it?

I have the sub from the RSX type S and it sounds pretty decent. It adds alot more bass than the stock S. However, I'm truely not convince that the RSX type S Sub box is actually a sub box because the speaker in it is only 6 inches. So while it'll add bass, the bass will be "punchy." In other words, the bass hits and does not throw. Hey for a $100 bucks, you can try it out. At least it'll sound alot better than what you currently have. In addition, it'll save lots of weight....always a plus =) Good Luck.

What does the sub from RSX type S look like? Where does it go in? Anyone knows where I can see a picture?

Is there a dedicated amp for it in type S that you are pulling out with the speaker? What does the amp look like? Where to put it?

How much would they be if I have to buy it from Honda parts?

Thanks for answers, in advance.

Basically, the RSX type S sub box is suppose to fit perfectly into the spare tire of the Acura RSX type S. So it is basically about 10 inches in diameter and 6 inches in height. The dedicated amp used for it is Bose. However, I'm currently using a rockford fosgate amp to push my sub box. If you really want to see what it looks like, go to ebay and type in "Bose RSX"

Is this a simple plug and play set up with the factory head unit, and will it work with aftermarket head units?

The sub box will fit in the S2k spare tire but it does not fit perfectly/flush in there. But it doesn't matter because the spare tire is hidden from view anyways.

Unfortunately guys, this is not a simple plug and play sub box with the factory S2000 Head unit.. You have to do some wire cutting to get this thing to Work. In other words, you cannot just connect the RSX amp onto the factory S2000 head unit. Why? Well its simple. the S2K head unit already has a amp built into it. So you cannot just "direct plug" in the RSX amp and sub onto the S2k HU.

The good thing is it is possible to connect the Bose amp and box onto the Factory S2k HU but that will take some "know how" to do. If you don't know about stereos, don't try to do it yourself. In addition, it will work w/ a aftermarket HU. All you have to do is connect the sub box to the after market HU's speaker lines (low pass).

My recommendation: I do not think that this is a worthwhile mod if you are looking for some real bass. Like I said before, it adds some bass but not that much. You will hear it from your trunk for sure since there is no physical barrier between you and where the sub box sits in the trunk besides the gas tank. Try to think about why the people who have these sub boxes on their RSX are getting rid of it. Hint Hint. I added it to my car because I got the sub box for free. If you guys really want real bass, go get the self amplified Bazooka tube sub. It is plug and play, costs about $150 if I remember correctly on Ebay for new, and sounds alot better (My friend has one). Save yourself the headache and don't get the RSX sub box. I figure that it'll cost you about $100 - $150 for the RSX sub box and than you have to pay someone to splice your wires, which costs an additional $40-50, to get the thing to work. So bomberman and fellow S2k owners, it is not worth it from my standpoint.

I agree with Tony. When I had my RSX, that crappy woofer was the first thing I replaced. Definitely better options out there for the same money.

The money's not the only thing...it's that it takes up virtually no extra space by being stored in the spare
