S2000 Kenwood double din installled in dash
Hi all. After a long time absence, I have finally bit the bullet and cut into the dash of my 2000 AP1 S2000 to install a huge 7 inch capacitive touch screen Kenwood unit. I chose the 2017 Kenwood 9170DABS unit which has DAB radio, navigation, apple carplay and android auto as well as wireless mirror link and front and rear camera inputs .
The unit is large and i also had to modify my passenger air vent (which still works albeit with lower air flow). The unit is controlled also by the in dash controls via a Modifry controller. The bezel (fascia) was custom made using self cured acrylic, car bog and pray painting items. The unit is not sunken into the dash any further due to restrictions in the depth of the unit (massive unit).
Installation and dash cutting was maybe a week and making the bezel (fascia) took about 3 weeks alone. Paint colour was eye matched to match the dash and texture was attempted using a spray technique from a further distance. Hope you like the end result. Front camera is so that i don't run into those damn concrete stops in parking lots as the lower front spoiler is so low!
Here is the link to the installed unit.

Just using some cheap ebay cameras at the moment. They suit my needs just fine for what i want to see.
Kenwood actually makes a dash cam called the DRV-N520 is a dash-camera with Simplified Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). It is a 3MP (2304 x 1296) HDR compact drive assist camera that has lane departure and forward collision warnings. Operate and view the images from your Kenwood AV receiver's screen. I havent got that unit as i wanted a low mounted camera to show the near objects so i don't damage my front bar when parking near concrete stops.
