Default Dash controls

Hi there, i have a new JVC headunit, but the dash controls wont work with my countdown dash control unit, is there a fuse i can check for the dash, or does it not exist?

My headunit isnt grounded to the chasis but surely that cant effect my countdown unit working (it plugs into the jack at the back of the jvc headunit).

cheers

The dash controls will only work with an OEM head unit unless you buy an interface.

As mentioned in your other thread, JVC recently changed their interface protocol. This is possibly your issue.

Hi

I recently tried to fit a countdown interface with a sony headunit and had trouble with it. I had a guy form their technical department help me out but in the end we got no where with it. I guess the new Sony headunits have a different protocol to the old ones.

In the end I bit the bullet and bought a connects2 adaptor- just checked- they only do a Sony interface. The other option would be to but the one from America, http://marketplace.s2ki.com/s2ki/pro...?productid=185.

Otherwise start by giving countdown a call and asking for some technical help with it.

I think that could be the route of the problem, looks like im going bite the bullet and get one from the market place.

Will i get done by import taxes whilst buying a modifry dci off the market place?

Strange, i have an interface for Sony head units and it works with new and old, i originaly bought it for an older head unit with the plan of getting a newer one soon.

Stuart from countdown sorted one that would work with my old unit and then i just had to plug in 2 small wires to the adaptor plugs for it to work with a newer (2004) one.

Hi Ade

The Countdown DCI worked ok, but once the car was switched off somehow the headunit would loose the time and presets as if it was loosing its permanent mains feed. We tried running seperate feeds to the unit and DCI put the problem persisted. I even sent the headunit back to have it checked over. Somehow the DCI was reseting the unit each time the engine was switched off. The Sony headunit was a F7750s. Even with the connects2 interface I have no mute function. Maybe oneday I will order the modifry unit!

If its possible try a different head unit to see if it has the same effect, it if does get in touch with Stuart from Countdown.

When i bought mine it worked with my headunit and i tried the new head unit before i bought it (nice shop) at first the only function that worked was the mute, Stuart sent me photos and instructions as to what wires should be where and such but still it didnt work, the shop let me try a different head unit (same model) and it was still the same so Stuart agreed to look at it again, sent it back and said that the interface was faulty. Sent a new one out, with the spare wires, tried it on mine and the new one from the shop and all works fine.

Cost more as they had just started doing them but the service and the fact its been faultlesss since day one (Dodgey Alpines anyone?) means it was worth it.
