I tried building the first box this weekend, I lots!

The measurements are wrong for 1 piece

The bottom 2 side pieces that are 17" x 2.25" should be 19" x 2.25" Otherwise they can't sit on outside of the bottom piece!

I cut everything out and was about to put it all together when I noticed this. I was going to just re-cut the 2 side pieces correctly but instead built it anyways. I'll build another one if it doesn't work.

I built it by putting the bottom 4 sides ON the bottom piece instead of "around" it as diagramed. This makes the box 0.5" shorter, which reduces air volume to about 0.66cu/ft. My car is in storage so I can't test fit the box for another couple of weeks. I'm sure my box will now fit but being that much shorter kind of sucks.

as pointed out... this thread probably should be mentioned in the FAQ, as a guide/visual aid for running wiring in the S.

Wow, nice job b0mbrman!

I don't know if you want to have a "what comes stock" section, but if you do I summarized the OEM HU stuff here:

OEM HU

Seems to be a question that's frequently asked...

Bottom Line: For U.S. Models (International may be different)

2000 39100-S2A-A00 TUNER ASSY., AUTO RADIO (20WX4) (MATSUSHITA) $708.53
2001 39100-S2A-A01* TUNER ASSY., AUTO RADIO (20WX4) (MATSUSHITA) $717.40
2002 39100-S2A-A10 TUNER ASSY., AUTO RADIO (30WX4) (ALPINE) $668.43
2003 39100-S2A-A10 TUNER ASSY., AUTO RADIO (30WX4) (ALPINE) $668.43
2004 39100-S2A-A701-02 Clarion Co Ltd.

*Only difference that I'm aware of with the 2001 is the clock display

Sorry ML Clayton, I don't have a 2004 and the 2004 info is not up on the parts sites I checked for the others.

Best way is to remove it and look for any info on labels, etc.

I'm surprised that you don't have the Head Unit Removal links in here too...
