S2000 wierd click on cold start
Hi guys,
When I start my car (cold start) and rev it to about 3k Rpm quickl, as soon as I release the accelerator there is a click noise that comes from the engine bay and the cluster flickers once as well.
Anyone know what this could be? Is it normal?
Must be an electrical fault you would think.

Heres a video guys, a little difficult to hear but as soon as its revved and it they drop you will notice a flicker in the cluster along with the noise (sounds like a relay)
Edit: Last two revs show the issue

Does it affect drivability? Seems like a non-issue to me, how did you stumble upon this quirk? Honestly, you are doing something not normal by free revving a cold engine to 3000 rpm and letting it fall so I am not sure what to think. If it was making a weird noise as part of normal operation I might be concerned but it seems like maybe you are just looking for something to be wrong with it?
S2000 syndrome - when an owner is sure something is wrong with his/her S2000 because nothing has gone wrong...ever.

Ummmm, thats the air pump coming on... It's present on all s2k's until the 06' model year. The intention of the air pump is to increase the exhaust temperature and help the cat get up to operating temperature more quickly. The air pump is located in the driver side of the front bumper and has a tube running into the intake.
You can unplug the air pump but it will throw a code. The only real solution is an air pump simulator, Izze sells one: http://www.izzeracing.com/Site/Honda...Simulator.html
I did a full air pump delete including the puddymod blanking plate and removal of all associated hardware simply because I didnt like the relay kicking on and the idea of 12lbs of useless smog gear was annoying to me. I also have a high flow cat so the air pump is doing basically nothing for it.
Keep in mind that if you remove the air pump the car will not pass smog, if you just disconnect the power running to it and use the simulator the car will pass no problem.
