It would just give you mids and highs from all directions. That's a great point tho.
If you're going to be watching movies recorded in 5.1 surround sound (which, most aren't...the rear channels are developed through time alignment...), I'd give the thumbs up for having sound coming from behind as fill. However, we're not talking home audio and from the sounds of it, we're not talking about watching movies in the OP's S either (lol).

I feel a tiny improvement by powering my roll-hoop speakers just to the threshold of hearing. Sort of a "fullness." But the concert comment is correct. Even indoor venues try to cut down audio reflections.

You could do it so it sounds good...but, you'd really have to put some time and work into adjusting your time alignments so it all meshes properly (and is far easier to do without the rear speakers).

I did enter time corrections into the Alpine 9887, with eyeballed distances. I wish there was an easier way to turn time correction on-and-off to hear the difference.

Honestly, I just kinda do it by ear. Try to equal both sides out so the sound stage seems to be right in front of me instead of to the right.
