Hi guys, I just bought my S and i'm already more or less hating the sound system. I dont mind the lack of speakers, but it's just not loud enough. It really harkens back to my civics stock system, which I ended up replacing poorly. My thing is, I really like the stock setup for this. It looks very clean, so I don't want to mess with that. I really just want to be able to take out the stock speakers, put in an upgraded system, and call it a day. problems that arise are like i said, i love a stock look. Therefore many HUs are not to my liking since they're often way too flashy. I LOVE the look of the Pioneer DEX p99rs, but have an extremely difficult time justifying $1000+ for a HU alone so the cleanest HU i've found that's a reasonable price is the Pioneer DEH 80prs. That being said, if I could find a p99rs for a decent price, that's what's going in. Second problem is when it comes to speakers, i'm a total newbie.

I previously owned a 2000 Audi A4 1.8T w/ a bose system and LOVED it, but wished it could have been louder. I read that an $800 budget will suffice to give me an upgraded system including HU and speakers but I don't know if speakers includes the tweeters, 6 1/2s and 3" or if it's just the 6 1/2s. Does anyone have any good suggestions? I dont want to put in a subwoofer at all but I do definitely want to maintain a good amount of bass. I just dont think subs belong in a car like an S2k.

Budget for an amp -- not just HU and speakers.

 

I'm aware. $800 seemed to be what i was looking for when i looked at suggested budgets. so does anyone have any speaker suggestions?

Do you guys have anything to say for Focal 165 A1 6.5" 2 way component kit?

I'd love to go all out and buy the K2 Power KRX3 kit but I just cant justify $1700+ for speakers right now. Will the 165 be substantially better than the stock system when I get a good headunit in?

As far as head units i'm thinking a Pioneer deh-p5200hd, KENWOOD KDC-X995, or a Pioneer MVH-P8200BT. Any opinions or experiences with these?
