siren on stock alarm
ive got an 01 with the stock alarm system, i was wondering if anyone has hooked up a siren to in to use instead of the horn, i asked honda where i got the car and they are clueless, in the honda book for the alarm, they mention an optional siren that can be hooked up, but i cannot find anything more about it, ..if anyone can help, i would appreciate it.
The alarm brain is common to all Honda vehicles, and the 'optional' siren is sold in a kit (with wiring harnesses) but only for certain models, unfortunately not the S2000. I've played around with the idea of buying the siren kit for the Accord and custom fitting it to the S2000, but I haven't tried it yet.
Hi!
I have a 02 S2000 purchased new last June. I simply asked the dealer (Carter Honda-Vancouver B.C.,) if they could make my horn "chirp" rather than "beep." The dealer said a new horn would have to be installed. They did it, along with placing a high-density "blue" LED on the consol. No problem. It's covered under warranty given it's dealer installed and part of the alarm-purchase package. The alarm system is a Clifford G4. Now, I have no idea regarding any other information of how the alarm was installed or how it works (same Honda Key-fob however). I do know that the dealer farmed the work out to a local stereo/alarm company called A & B Sound. They did a great job. So it can be done. The only problem being, if the LED burns out or if there's a problem with the alarm, A & B Sound will have to repair it (under warranty of course). This may be a one-off for me as a customer. I'm not certain they extend (or even advertise) this service to everyone. I hope this helps.

You should be able to install pretty much any type of sounder by intercepting the "Alarm" output from the Security Module, and adding a relay to drive your siren.
The Security Module (under the drivers seat) has an orange wire that splices into the car's wiring harness and eventually connects to the Keyless Entry Module, Horn button, and the Horn Relay. The book doesn't say where the wires are spliced, so in my mind the only way to be sure you separate the Security Module output from the Horn button circuit is to grab the orange wire at the Security Module. You need to separate them so when you press the horn button the horn honks and not the siren.
If you cut the orange wire near the Security Module and insulate the end from the wire harness, you can connect the Module side of the wire to a relay to drive a siren. The orange wire provides a ground and is not rated to drive a high current device like a siren, so you need the relay to switch +12v to your siren.

Do you have any idea which wire from the stock alarm can be tapped to supply power to a radar module? This line would have to become hot when the security alarm is activated by the keyless entry module (or supply a ground ??). I have an Omega AU-94T radar module which can be wired into the hood switch circuit to signal an illegal entry.
