Size of door speakers
I searched the FAQ and MacGuyver's site and found all sorts of information except what the stock speaker size in the doors are. I am assuming it is 6.5". Is this correct?
I usually recommend 5.25" for best fit and least amount of alteration to door and speaker mount. I don't like to do much cutting/modifications to the car. I want it to be as stock as possible with a perfect fit.
I've run 5.25" MB Quarts in various cars (Honda CRX Si, WRX, Type R), and they were perfect. They fit well and sound good (as long as you have a good amp).

Well, maybe it depends on the speaker, as my MB Quarts mounted PERFECTLY to the stock speaker mounts. No additional drilling of the doors. Only had to cut the back of the mount so they could accommodate the depth of the MB Quarts.
Obviously, you want to go as large as possible in the stock location (6.5"), but sometimes, going smaller can be fine depending on the speaker and its size for mounting.
