Default Sliding Lid, not opening....

Hey guys I dunno if this belongs in this section but the sliding lid on my AP2's cupholder area doesn't open automatically anymore. My girlfriend filled it with a buncha crap so it wouldn't open when I pressed the button. So I jammed it open and now it doesn't automatically open when I press the button, I have to slide it manually. I opened the console and found a little wheel/gear-like spring that is probably the mechanism for the door to slowly slide open. There are two holes besides the spring piece. I found a few threads and even one where someone drew a diagram of how to fix it but I still don't see how to fix it. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks!

It is a PITA to fix and in my experience it is not the same after you break it. I recently dealt with this a couple of days ago and then i broke it again. I will update and try to take pictures if i have time.

I fixed it. I was looking at the wrong part that the guy in the other thread with the diagram was referring to. I was referring to the little wheel/gear thing but I ended up finding the spring in the car after looking back in it and fixed the problem myself. Definitely was a PITA though ure right.

Remove the console. Check the tracks that the door slides along. Sounds like you have dust/gunk or some other obstruction. Once you disassemble it you'll find the spring that pulls it open. Make sure it's mounted properly.
