Grab some dog crap, and stick RCAs in it, and you have a better amp than the XPLODs. I think they are powered with pickles. (If you ever saw a pickle light up a lightbulb, then its funny )

To answer your question, no, they are garbage. Tell me what kind of amp you need and what is your budget, and Ill be more than happy to sort you out.

ok, basically, I am looking for a decent system.... I would prefer to not replace my stock speakers, but if I have ti in order to amp them, than so be it..

I want a decent sub, but nothing that would clutter my trunk.. Would an 8 inch be sufficient?? or would I need a ten??

As for amp, prefer a five channel, in order to have one amp powering everything, but those are hard to come by...

Basically what I want is a loud and clear system, but nothing fancy..

I already have an Alpine 7893 cd player that is 60watt x 4...

Where should I go from here...

I really want to have a good amount of trunk space afterward, so what is the best bet for me??

Any help will be greatly appreciated,...

Thanks

Ok....amping stock speakers isnt an option. You need to get new speakers.

You can get this amp for 149 bucks .....
http://www.woofersetc.com/product.asp?0=35...353&1=355&3=401

You can use the rear channels to power the subwoofer, and the front channels to power the speakers.

Ask them to throw in the cooling fan unit.
You can also buy a wiring kit from www.knukonceptz.com

A set of nice speakers...
such as these...
http://www.woofersetc.com/product.asp?0=30...05&1=307&3=1232
for 119 bucks....

And a nice sub
http://www.procarstereo.com/product.jsp?pr...product_id=2865
79 bucks.

And off to the tunes you go.

would I be able to go without amping the speakers, and just use my alpine head unit to power the stock speakers??

It is a powerful unit, would that be sufficient??

I guess I would only need to get an amp and a sub...

let me know+..

Well...the alpine puts out about 20wrms per channel. And a sub wont run off the headunit. You wont find a good sub amp for less than 150 bucks, so you might as well do this if you have an option.

You can get away without amping, but you wont get nice clear audible sound at highway speeds with the top down.

Ideally, nothing, if you can use a screwdriver....

the 7893 is a V-drive... so you could get away w/ running the right speakers off of it... you're not getting 60 Wx4 though... more like 25 Wrms x 4.

look into speakers / components w/ a 90+ dB/W/m rating. preferrably closer to 93 dB/W/m. things like the Focal Access 165A, the Infinity CS6000 Reference series, and the Polk db series all fall into this category.

if you're looking to save some bucks and do a inexpensive system -- run a nice set of sensitive components, a moderate amp, and an 8" sub. it should give you a nice bang for buck.

edit:
doh! no, thinking about it... i don't think the 7893 is a V-drive. so you're only getting about 20 Wrms x 4 at best.

you could still pull off the lower priced system... but you might want to consider a 4 channel amp that can act as both front power and sub power. something in the 50 Wrms x 4 range could get you out on the cheaper side. (50 Wrms for the 2 fronts, and hopefully 200 Wrms x 1 for the sub.)

The amp for 149.00 bucks was 60x2 @ 4 ohms AND 150x2 @4ohms. Perfect for this application.
