Speaker/Amp Compatibility Questions
Hi everyone,
To start, I did read the FAQ/sticky on speakers etc. in this forum. In the end, I'm still not sure of full compatibility, and so wanted to get some verification and/or suggestions from you knowledgeable people.
I replaced the stock head unit with this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ef=oss_product. I didn't require an awesome head unit...just needed something with iPod compatibility, and it received good reviews overall. It's rated at 17W RMS.
I also replaced the stock speakers and front tweeters with this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ef=oss_product. These Infinity 6.5"s are rated @ 90W RMS (2 ohm).
This combo is just not powerful enough, especially with the top down. Thus, I'm considering adding an amp and subwoofers. My only requirement is that it sounds full, and that I can hear more than before. I don't need anything that will rattle the car next to me, as I couldn't care less what other people hear.
That said, would this combination work, and work well?
Amp: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_11537_...+08ZX550.3.html. The basics of this 3-channel amp are:
Channel 1 + 2 RMS Power Rating:
* 2 ohms: 85 watts x 2 chan. (this looks to line up with the component speakers)
Subwoofer Channel RMS Power Rating:
* 2 ohms: 420 watts x 1 chan.
Total RMS power output at 2 ohms: 590 watts
Sub: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_11354_...5+08S10L54.html. Sub is 10" Dual 4 Ohm Solo-Baric L5 Series Subwoofer, rated at 450W RMS. Dual 4 Ohm = 2 Ohm for the single channel, right???
Sub enclosure: http://cgi.ebay.com/2000-up-Honda-S2000-SU...DefaultDomain_0. They provide the option for 10", 12", round or square, so I'd obviously choose 10" square, based on the choices above.
Also, if anyone lives in the SoCal area, do you have any recommendations for installation places?
Would appreciate if anyone can provide some feedback. Thank you very much!!!
