Default speaker combo

Well thnx to some of you guys i managed to install the alpine cda 9811. I belive it runs 50watts by 4. I am not sure if I need a small amp to power speakers or is the deck good enough for that. Here are the questions.

When the deck is 50*4 peak, does that mean 100*2 since i am runnig only 2 speakers?
Is there something like good combos like alpine decks work better with jl or pioneer best sounds with boston acustics. I am plannig to spend a good amount of cash on front speaker components since i will have only 2 and i want them to be good, so whats good maybe best for alpine cda 9811 with 50*4 peak?
I have 350 lightning audio single channel which used to power a 12 inch rockfordfosagate hx series sub and it sounded pretty nice to me. Now that sub and its box is gone but I have the 350 amp, what kind of sub should i go with, it probably wil be a single 12 but what brand? jl? rf? mtx? and also what series?

The reason i am asking all these questions are becuz when i go ask my friends, most of the time they dont have a very good answer or they make something up, when i am at the local audio shop it sonds like they are trying to sell me the items which are left in inventory and hasnt been sold for a long time, or something which has a good profit amount, when i look up on the internet its mostly advertisment and numbers and terms that i dont understand pretty well (crossover, treble 12.5 k, frequincy....etc.), and i dont have the cash amount to take my car to a professional place and drop off by saying "make it sound good, money is not a problem ". So i guess i am learning as I go, and I belive i can get the best advice here.

Hmm i was looking at jl website, what is the price on the stealthbox i couldent find it over there and also it looks like xr series are pretty good for our cars. Hmm what are those 2 other odd looking things which comes with the xr650 csi? they look like little capacitors for speakers i am not sure if its possible.

Nope. Those other two channels just have the power on tap, ready for you to do something with it

Nope!

The only exception to this in all of car audio that I can think of offhand is the mating of JL subs to JL amps. Just to be difficult, JL makes their subs with impedances that are factors of 3 (1.5, 3, 6) and JL amps are stable down to impedances of (surprise!) factors of 3.

Use another brand of amp and you either don't use the full power possible (not necessarily a bad thing--just means you paid for output you're not getting) or you use it at less than safe, low impedance levels (bad thing)

There's not a whole lot you can do with the power from a deck--especially in a convertible. What's your budget?

Check the FAQ for some subs that work well in the limited space of the S (it's in the S2000-specific section)

Made up answers are the best!

Don't ask these guys anything...

Actually, I have run into some very helpful salespeople. They're a rare occurrence though.
when i look up on the internet its mostly advertisment and numbers and terms that i dont understand pretty well (crossover, treble 12.5 k, frequincy....etc.),
You can ask that here too

For starters:
Crossover - A frequency you choose where one speaker stops playing (or starts to play quieter) and another starts playing. You need these because no driver out there can play every frequency in the listenable spectrum
Treble - Literally means triple...basically it's the third range of music (on top of bass and alto).
12.5k - Uh...this means 12,500
Frequency - Cycles per second. A musical note's frequency is its pitch. On a piano, every key has a different frequency.

The stealth box is around $500. It's overpriced for what you get (unless you factor in the convenience of it all).

The XR Series is also overrated. I imagine you'd have to pay at least $250 to get an authorized set and for around that much, there are plenty of good speakers out there.

Those two things are crossovers...They'll include capacitors among other things...

$500 is a lot of money , does it at least include the sub and amp?
or we are not that lucky?

what are those good speakers for 250 ( ibelive its the combo).
Oh and also like when u want a fast car you look at engine and hp, when you want to trasport people you look at seating on a car.
now what do u look at when u want a overall loud and good quality speaker? What number on that specifications sheet?

If you only have one set of speakers connected to your deck, the crossover doesn't do a whole lot

Nope, just the sub...What you're paying for is the convenience and easy fit of injected fiberglass

FAQ!

Quarter mile times and passenger space are objective while audio is subjective. No amount of data will predict exactly what a speaker will sound like so I really can't say anything except that you should hit the pavement and listen to as many speakers as you can

That said, a good place to start is to look for a flat off-axis frequency response.

Lower extension is also nice whether or not you have a sub. Without a sub, obviously that's where your bass is coming from. With a sub, front extension allows you to LP your sub lower which will give your entire system better extension and imaging.

Also, power is pretty cheap these days but you might as well also look at the sensitivity of the speakers you're getting...

I'm running an Alpine CDA-7876, Kenwood door speakers, Polk rear speakers (thank you, Lucid), a JL Audio Stealthbox, and a JL Audio 250/1 amp.

The Alpine CDA-7876 powers the door speakers and rear speakers.

Th CDA-7876 is rated as 60W x 4. It really puts out 27 watts RMS/channel at best. My door speakers and rear speakers are fairly efficient. I get undistorded sound when the volume is set to about 60% of max. This is great listening with the top down except at highway speeds and faster. To overcome the wind noise, I'd need to amp door speakers and rear speakers.

The Stealthbox and 250/1 definitely added quite a bit, even with the sub setting to 0 or +1.

I hope that helps.
