Default Speaker set up?

I love this car (MY06) more than any I've ever had.....but the speakers front, rear, left, and right suck to high heaven. There's gotta be a standard mod that you guys have come up with at this point to improve this pathetic system. It seems the power is there so I just need to replace the speakers. The roll bar speakers are a particular joke. Sounds like an old AM transistor radio. Pitiful. What's the cure....anyone??

What I'm looking for is...much better speakers to fit in the oem enclosures and look stock. Is that possible?

Well i went to best buy and bought some pioneers 2way i believe and replaced doorspeakers and the difference is spactacular. it wont vary a huge amount with stock deck unit, but the sound does improve on any aftermarket speakers. mine were 45bucks with the open box discount. no too shabby.

The HU should go first. Then the speakers. The door speakers on the 06 are not that bad, they aren't great, but they aren't paper cones and surrounds either.

As for the rollbar speakers, one person replaced them with tweeters, but you need a full range driver back there, the tweeter would just annoy the hell out of me.

I have some small drivers to test but I need to move first, then I'll work about testing them. Most drivers that have been researched will not fit though.

Its easy, Alpine 9857headunit with 30gig I-pod recorded at 320kps,mb quart RUA 236 components in the doors(dynamat of course),Alpine 4 channel amp mrp 450 (use 1&2 cannels for the doors and bridge 3&4 for the sub)12"image dynamics sub in the trunk.I hooked my rollhoop speakers to the headunit but it sounds better with them off.Expand later with Alpine pxa-h701 signal processor if you really want it to sound good.I start out saying"Just the Headunit this time"and always end up here.

Headunit, Headunit, Headunit. It will make a bigger difference than any other single mod.

Clarion or Alpine, one of them used to, not sure anymore.

Either way, the stock HU sucks. It really should be the first upgrade.
