AusS2000 -- Very nice. This looks like a good and wise solution.
I am thinking that I may have professional installers do the amp. My impression is that there is a lot of disassembly and reassembly of the interior for the amp install, especially if it is done right.

Not too much, and it's pretty simple.
You need to remove the seat (2x12mm, 2x14mm), then pop the sill panel off (three plastic snap outs), and the left kick panel (plastic snap out far forward on the inside, and a plastic plug up the top under the door rubber. I think there's a screw on the inside too but i can't remember.
I think most installers just drill into the floor pan to mount the amp. I don't want any holes drilled in mine, and if I every have to they will be immediately painted to prevent corrosion.
Running the cable under the carpet is a doddle.

Aus,
I'm with you about having to drill holes in the floor (or anywhere else, for that matter). When I finally istall an amp, I had planned on putting it under the seat, as well. I thought I could come up with some sort of bracket that would wedge it between the seat rails without screws. It wouldn't slide around, but could pop right out, when necessary.

Hi Guys,
I just finished installing my sound upgrade this weekend, you can see some pictures I have taken (I forgot to take pictures during the whole process; I was too busy) at http://www.xs4all.nl/~pwb/s2000
I also have Polk Audio 2-way speakers (DX) and an MTX 152 amp, because of the reasonable price and nice power. Of course I took great care in running all Monster cables everywhere!!
The Amp is mounted behind the trunk cover where the gas tank filler tube runs. It isn't fixed in there, but supported by foam etc. Don't worry; It won't go anywhere or rub against something; it is nicely supported!
Good luck with your job. Make sure you allow enough time and make sure you will run nice cables to power everything, otherwise you will ruin the result!!
