Speakers....

Is that sub I linked the same one you used?
Do you lose any seat adjustment to the rear?
What is involved in running the wiring for it? (power and audio).
So you are tapping those screws into plastic, correct? No metal. Would double sided tape possibly work? Probably not - nothing flat to tape to. Is there a chance it might fit under the passenger seat?
Would this bag work if you are trying to avoid drilling? http://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/pubs/AI/AII26326.pdf
I may do this. Its not cheap. But it seems that a small sub like that could really improve the audio - give it some bottom end. Right now all I have is an Alpine head unit and stock speakers in the doors in excellent condition. Its really not too bad - but it is a bit on the thin side. I know you have an ear so your recommendation carries some weight for me. I'm not listening to heavy bass stuff - mostly jazz, folk, alternative rock type of stuff. I'm just looking to add a bit of bottom end.
The other thing I'm considering is adding one of the small Alpine amps to the system - one that fits in, or under, the dash - like this: KTP 445A - https://www.crutchfield.com/p_500KTP...ck.html?tp=115. Will the alpine headunit combined with KTP 445A be sufficient to run everything, including the sub?

Yes, that is the model SW. Kinda $$$ --- but one of the best 8-inch, amplified units which I've heard. Clearer, tighter bass than many much bigger 10-inch units.
You may lose 1/2-inch of seat adjustment. Unit is very flat, maybe 2-inch height, at most. It's screwed into plastic cover plate? The SW is fairly lightweight and is also held by the back of the seat. Has power on, switch power, and wiring for EQ control. I placed the control knob next to the radio, on the driver's side. See round, lit knob by driver's knee?
Unit blends low frequencies very well with the Alpine (SPR-60C) speakers I put into the doors. Sounds like bass is coming through those door speakers and not behind your butt.

Do those alpine speakers go in to door without mods?
I see the SW has its own amp. Do you use a separate amp of any kind?

Nope, just feed high level or low level into SW's amp inputs. I needed to fabricate spacer-adapters for the door speakers.

In January I installed a new stereo system.
Polk DB6502 speakers--I used the stock baskets without having to remove any material, but the mounting holes in the DB6502s were about 1/2 screw diameter outside the holes in the baskets, so I filled the holes in the baskets with epoxy and drilled new holes in the proper location.
Alpine head unit CDE-163BT. I like the 9-band equalizer and used it to even out the frequency response via a tone generator app on my phone.
Alpine KTP-445U Power Pack, running in bridged configuration for 90W per channel.
This sounds much better than the stock stereo (one speaker of which was a little buzzy at volume). It gets loud enough now with better fidelity. But now I'm thinking I need a sub since there's zero sub-50 Hz.
