i never really listened to music much in the S but after i got the ipod connection hooked up on friday its been non-stop music in the car.

i'm intrested in upgrading the speakers to where its better to hear with the top up or down compared to stock. i'm not looking into putting subs or amps, i just want to change the mains and tweeters. what's a decent brand, model, and what's a safe wattage with the stock head unit for the S? also, i'm not a believer of spending high $ for a car sound system, if it were a house it would be different.

 

1. look at quality brands...
2. look at the physical dimensions... "deeper" speakers may not fit easily w/o modification
3. look at SENSITIVITY ratings. for the limited output from the stock cd player, you want a sensitive pair of speakers to produce more output
