Hey so recently my car started acting weird out of no where. It first started with my passenger seat belt light coming up and beeping, with no one in my passenger seat. Unless I park the care somewhere and restart it, it stays on until the seat belt is buckled in. A day or two later, my SRS light randomly came up. Didn't think much of it, I went ahead and looked on forums and did the reset method. It did the trick, but only stayed off for about 2 days. I took the car into the dealer to have service take a look at it. Fricken $140 diagnostic fee. They couldn't figure it out and told me they had to keep the car over night. Now this morning, they called me and said they couldn't get the SRS system to communicate, and wanted me to replace the entire system with new sensors and all. Documentation stated that they found code : 82 - 13. Quoting me $1082. On top of that, the parts are also back ordered. Being a college student, I already had a hard time justifying $140 for a diagnosis. So that's the background, now here are my questions:
Any one else having similar issues?
Will my air bags deploy even though the SRS light is on?
Any other way to get rid of SRS light or have airbags still deploy upon impact?
Am I better off going rollcage+harness+bucket seats for safety?
How dangerous is it to drive without airbags for our cars?
If you were in my shoes, what would you do?
Any alternatives?

 

How old is the battery? Maybe, you are having critical voltage issues?

 

I just changed the battery to a brand new interstate one about 2 months ago
