Default Stereo Installation - Where to put it all?

Guys

I need some help and suggestions please.

I have an Alpine F407 Amp as well as a 12 Disc Alpine multi changer (plus Alpine Head unit of course). I have yet to install this lot and took it out to my car to try and decide where was best to place it all. I am currently assuming the best place for the amp is in the boot well and that the CD changer will also have to go to one side in the boot. This chews up quite a bit of already limited boot space and so I was wondering if anyone else has some suggestions. I thought about putting the amp behind th passenger seat (but this would limit leg room slightly and potentially run the risk of damaging the back of the seat if a passenger unknowingly and over zealously trys to push the seat back).

Like I said, I would really appreciate any suggestions you guys may have.

Chris

How about the amp in the spare tire well, or next to the psre tire near the gas filler line? For the changer, you could put it in the secret compartment location (with some serious plastic chopping), and it would be covered and out of site there.

Chris,

Here's what my installer came up with. The amp is the orange unit (a Cadence Z6000) and it's mounted held in place with two screws at the top. The install was designed to permit a sealed box for the sub (Cadence 10" Beast) yet still have room to accommodate the amp without eating up much room.

Good luck!

Cheers Guys

You have got me thinking. I cannot out my CD changer in the hidden compt. because it's the 12 disk changer and I would end up cutting half the console away. As I guessed, I will have to stick with the boot for the amp.

By the way, Gohiking, is that a cd changer on the left in you photo ? If so, how was it mounted ? Obviously part of the trim in the boot was cut out to gain access to the recess behind, but did it require a mounting frame of some kind ? If so, any chance of some pictures ?

Thanks for the replies.

Hi Chris

That is a cd changer on the left. According to my installer, that was the easiest part of the install. It required no mounting bracket at all...in fact, it's just wedged in really, really tight (between the gas tank and whatever's above it). I'm really pleased with how it came out, though it did require him to cut just enough of the original trunk lining to slide it in.

Good luck to you!
