Default Stereo Setup

I'm a relative noob when it comes to modifying audio systems, so although I've read a lot on the forums here through searches I have a couple questions that those with experience could probably answer.

I'm planning on buying an Alpine iDA-X303, Modifry DCI, and PnP adapter (for the DCI) for my car.

My questions are:

1) Will I have to run the Alpine off of the car's battery directly or can it be run by the stock power going to the back of the stock HU? Keep in mind that I'd only be using the Alpine to play music off of my iPod, and I'm keeping the stock speakers.

2) Is there a solution for routing the iPod wire through the center console to the center cubby (the sliding door one behind the shifter)? Is it a difficult job taking the console apart or relatively easy to do?

Thanks

1. You can run the new HU off the stock power wire. In fact, if the new one doesn't come with one, find an adapter that lets you plug straight into the factory harness.

2. The console comes off pretty easily. Take off the shift knob, then it's just a few clips that hold it in. Firm pressure makes it pop right off.

So the HU won't cause any problems to the electrical system running off the stock power? I've heard in the past it's "safer" for the system to run off the battery. If that's not the case, awesome .

Thanks for the info.

No -- look at the power requirements for the IDA HU you're looking at. It would be a different story with an amp.

Modifry's PnP will take care of this.

Look through this thread (search is handy ). There's useful information and photos there.
