Stuck CD
There is nothing wrong with using CD-Rs in the stock or any other head unit. At worst, you could have a player that can't focus correctly on the dye layer (i.e., older players), but that won't cause any harm to the player itself.
CD-Rs aren't any heavier than normal CDs, they are just created with a different process. All CDs can vary in weight by a surprising amount due to thickness of the substrate and how finely the press the polymer coating (i.e., quality of the CD manufacturing process). In this case, I would be more worried about the CD being off-balance and tearing apart the motor's bearings rather than a minute difference in total weight, but this isn't strictly the domain of CD-Rs, just bad manufacturers.
Where are you getting this information? (not an attack, just curiosity).

Hey Pinky,
I think what those new Cd-R headunits your talking about are capable of playing cdr's that have been burned with straight mp3 files on it thus allowing for a huge amount of songs to be put on one cd. Normally what happens is that the mp3s are converted to wav. files and then burned onto the cd. This however causes the songs to take up alot more space on the cdr and only allows room for up to 18 songs.

Try sticking a CDR or Panasonics CD-Music format into a player made in 1995. The CD will eject along with half the internals(exageration). The new Red Book standard was updated in '96 for the two new burnable formats and most manufacturers adopted the spec in '97. The Pioneer Premier decks were good to go pretty early on. Guess which ones I've buying since '97?
MP3 decks utilize a completely different standard. Fujistu makes the chipsets for 80% of the market and the feature set is totally Ghetto. Besides the MP3 sound quality is inferior.
