1 month ago I talked with Alpine, Terk, XM, and Blitzsafe to set up my 9815. Terk has a unit called the XM Commander ($134.00 @ Circuit City) that will work with the Blitzsafe Adapter. It comes with an antenna and an FM modulator. They said you would use the tuner and not use the FM modulator. Terk may make a unit that comes without the FM modulator but there is no word yet.

Blitzsafe had not started making the adapter yet for the alpine when I spoke to them. It may be in production now but I would have to call them to check. It will directly connect the 2 units.
Alpine can not compete on price so they stoped making their unit and let Terk and Blitzsafe pick up the slack.
(That came from Alpine)

well, Bacchus -- good info. whatever it is though, for it to be useful to me - i wouldn't want just a audio only or FM modulator connection...

i'm curious as to how this is going to work out, but it seems like this is a case where there may be initial issues w/ the setup just due to all the hands that are in the pot.

Sorry my question isn't about XM but no one has answered me at other threads. If I buy a Alpine HU can I use my OEM CD changer in the trunck?
probably not.

thanks!

yeah, at this point, who knows what's going to hit the shelves... but i do think it's a $100 possible deal. and i hope Blitzsafe is going to make an AI-Net integrated adapter.

if it's FM modulator or whatever, i'm a no go on this one... but all the signs seem to be there saying that this will be a fully integrated unit.

and i don't think anyone really knows what's going to happen... if anyone sees solid info or a good press release, let us know...

Just to clarify, you do not use the FM modulator that comes with the XM Commander. The Blitzsafe takes its place connecting the tuner to the Alpine exactly the same if you would have purchased the Alpine XM tuner.
