System price
^ In my experience it depends on the product, not the technology. For instance old (4 years-ish) Nokia 53XX phones looked funny with polarized glasses but every new Nokia I've seen looks fine with polarized lenses. And worst of all, the new Corvette C6 guages all but disappear with polarized lenses. I can't believe GM test drivers use any other sunglasses but somehow word didn't make it back to the electronics people...
For full sun I like the white on black displays used on Clarion Pro, the new Eclipse middle models, and (I think) some Blaupunkt. My HU has a Vacuum Fluorescent Display. It's pretty good top-down but can't stand up to direct cloudless sunshine.
