Are these OEM wires and mat in the trunk?
I'm in the middle of a Dynamat (actually, RAAMMat) and amp install. Removed the gray lining in the trunk today, and discovered the following.
In the area above the fuel tank, there are two sets of wires. One set (a gray set, circled in red below) ends in a harness that's not attached to anything. Another set (two black wires, also circled in red) seem to go into the fuel tank area. Are these OEM wires? And for folks that installed their amp over the fuel tank: did you just smash these wires with the amp, or what?
And for folks installing Dynamat or RAAMMat, is the cheap-looking carpet-foam stuff (circled in red in one of the pictures below) OEM? If so, did you remove it and replace it with your mat, or did you mat over it? It looks cheap, and I bet it doesn't do much for sound reduction. Let me know what you did with this mat.
Thanks!

The burlap looking sound deadening is the OEM stuff. I removed mine and put the dynamat directly on the surface. Matting will do nothing if it is not directly attached to the surface since that is how it stops the material from resonating. If you wanted, you could put the OEM stuff back over the mat afterwards.
