installing amplifier on trunk lid
guys, thanks in advance for your comments. I've already searched many posts and other's installs, but couldn't find anybody that mounted their amplifier on the lid of the trunk. The closest thing i found was 3 crossover (with cool blue LED lights).
Anyways, my current set up has my Audison SRX-3 (http://www.audison.eu/xml/products/p...x3_tech_EN.pdf) in the spare tire well. I would like to have a spare tire in the trunk now, esp on long road trips. I could put the amp on the other side on top of the fuel tank, but I'd like put the rear plastic piece for sound and stealth purposes, so it wouldn't leave much room for airflow.
Has has anybody mounted a large amp (10lbs / 4.55kg) to the lid of the trunk? I was planning to put a thin carpeted MDF board to the trunk and then secure the amp to the board.
I'm worried about the long term weight, and vibrations mounting the amp upside down and on the lid of the trunk.
Ideas? Opinions?
Thanks!

I used to work for a shop that built police cars, and we mounted all sorts of stuff to the inside of the trunk lids. You're probably going to want to adjust the tension on the spring for the trunk in order to get it to open all the way. That was... terrible to say the least. Probably the worst thing I ever did while at that shop.
As far as the vibration, I would imagine it wouldn't be much worse than all those people who just leave their amp on the trunk floor.

A couple of searches will give you some more answers. Trunk, no. Space on top of gas tank, yes. Space to the left of the gas tank, yes. There is enough ventilation. I did not want to take a chance, so I added some extra vent ports, because I have a 4 channel and a subwoofer amp stacked in the space to the left of the gas tank. No problems.
The amps are class D, so there is no problem with overheating. When I use a single AB 4 channel in the space, I mounted the subwoofer amp also class AB on top of the tank. Again no vibration or overheating issues.
