Default Think I got the wrong subwoofer

So I'm new to all this and been reading a lot but still get lost when it comes to ohms and voice coils and think I just f'ed up...

I got a pdx-4.150 to power my comps with 2 channels and bridge the other two to send 300W to a single 10" subwoofer.

I researched, went to a store and listened, and decided on the Boston G2.

But I ordered the G210-44 which has dual 4-ohm voice coils.

Did I screw up? If so, should I get the one with a single 4-ohm voice coil?

Lost...... please help

Well I'm not too familiar with the PDX amps, and how stable they are at low impedances... however, what is listed on their site is this, complete with the "brigded" spelling mistake:

There has been some differing opinions on this and I've read both sides, however my opinion is that you can simply use one Voice Coil for a 4ohm load.

Please be conscious of power handling for that one coil.....

OK,

From what i read at the link provided, using one voice coil (debatably safe) would still cut the power handling of the sub drastically.

Seems like my best bet is to just get a SVC sub and sell this DVC one.

Thanks for the help! Wish you guys were around when I asked about this combo in the first place (got no replies)

you should give Alpine a call -
that amp with its regulated power supply MIGHT provide
its full rated 200 watt bridged output at 8 ohms too, in
which case you can wire the sub that way.

I would call Alpine and check. You may even be okay with 2 ohm. Their specs they list on their site are anything but clear.

They say the PDX-4.150 amps are able to run at 2ohms... however in the manual from Alpine it lists the bridged output at 4 ohm.

So I would get the dual 2 ohm sub and wire it for 4 ohms.
