Default Powering a single Sub.....Amp Help Please...kinda long

i have a single 10" JL 10W3 D2 sub in a sealed enclosure. I am trying to research which would be the right amp for this sub....

here are the specs for the sub

Dual 2ohm
250W RMS Powerhandling

Now since this is a 2 ohm Dual Voice Coil, I have decided to wire it
- 1Channel 4 Ohm

Should I use an amp rated higher than the Sub? Perhaps somthing like 250W RMS++? I understand that underpowering a driver is perhaps worse than overpowering. At least when there is more power it can run with cleaner power.

Here are some of the Amps I have been considering:

Rockford Fosgate Power 250.2
250W RMS X 1 into 4ohms $350CDN

Zapco Reference 200
190W RMS X 1 into 4ohms $399CDN

JBL BP.600.1 Mono Amp
300W RMS X 1 into 4ohms $499CDN

Precision Power 2360
360W RMS X 1 into 4ohms $449CDN

For the Price it would seem like the PPI would be the better buy. But maybe it would be too much for the Sub? What would U think would be the better amp to go with?...Id appreciate everyones input on this one...

Thanks!

Tugz...I would not go too far above, but it is definitely better for the amp to be rated higher rather than lower.

You may want to check this thread in RSXworld.

Why run in series? Run your speakers in parallel to a 1 ohm load and get more power. I would recommend an Orion 250HCCA, which puts out 800 watts into 1 ohm mono, and if you're willing to buy refurbished from Orion, you can get it for @$450(US). Or if you want something less expensive you could go with the 225 HCCA, 400 watts @ 1 ohm mono, for about $225(U.S.) Both are top of line amps in my book.
