Default Thinking about just replacing the speakers

If I just change the speakers and keep the stock HU, will it even make a difference compare to the stock speakers?

What's the stock HU power rating?

I'm looking at Boston Pro and JL ZR. Will them clear? Or there's an adapter for them?

Sorry i'm new with this car...

Thanks

Yeah. I don't even like running good speakers from an aftermarket HU, much less stock.

When you don't have enough clean power, you get distortion and blow the speakers.

as far as clearance I am not sure about those speakers. You amy want to investigate the Blaupunkt OverDrive series. They are "shallow mount" speakers (if you get the new ones) and have a sensitivity rating of 91-93. I am installing them next week. I wil write up a review and post it.

John

sp-Stock HU is something like 17WRMS....TINY!!

All you have to do is cut the plastic baskets that they are in. I have Infinity Reference Components and just cut the baskets, they fit fine. Although I do have the lucid adapters too, just been too lazy to take the doors off and do it again. But I would change the head unit first, and then change the speakers. A good head unit will do more than changing the speakers first. Kinda like buying lightweight rims on a slow car. Buy a fast car first and then buy light weight rims. have the power first, then look to the output.

Do your tweets have a L-pad on the back of them to adjust tweet output? I believe that mine do not, but I do not know if any Infinity tweets do...

thanks!

OOOPS! I meant 7 WRMS. Stoopid fingers!

I am mounting my tweeters at the bottom of the A-pillars (someone else on this forum has done this) and will drill a speaker grill pattern in the pillar trim. Looks extremely stealth, and probably provides good sound because the tweets fire at the glass.

WHEW!!!

The only things about pointing at the glass is the few milliseconds of delay...and maybe some smearing of the frequencies from the reflections....

just my opinion....
