hrm, then the KP2's are going to be a sticker shock as well. (not too far from the Z6's in price)

i haven't done enough listenting in the past year to really know who's throwing down the best sounds for the money. if you're looking in the sub $500 range (set), the Focal Access were pretty good the last time i listened. not the best voicing of their line, but very good for the money. i bought the SL60's (Boston) for Audra's van, and they sound great, but the sub seems to have to fill in a lot of midbass.

iirc, the upper line Polk's weren't too expensive, and they had a solid midbass. of course, they may have done a refresh since i last heard them.

i also recall the Eclipse components sounding really good (about a year or so ago), but w/ their soft dome tweeter, they weren't as crisp as some of the others we're talking. but a very smooth sound w/ a solid midbass and good voicing.

if you want, i can spend an afternoon or two doing some shopping and listening if you'd like the recommendation. i'm willing and it would let me get out of the house.
