Thinking of buying a radar detector, your opinions...
The Escort Registration doesn't require one though. Could they ask for one 10 months down the road when it breaks? I know I don't keep receipts that long.
and i always keep my receipts that long... i have receipts for stereo gear i bought 10 years ago...
I like my Passport 8500 X50!
I had purchased the 8500 when a week later I found out the X50 was coming out. I returned the 8500 (used it for a couple weeks - impressive) once my X50 arrived. I could tell a difference.
As for upgrading, I heard the same info after talking to Escort about what it would cost if I had kept my 8500 and wanted to upgrade. In the end, it was better to get the X50 with the extended service warranty so I can be covered for any upgrades for the next three years.

as far as the ebay is concerned....its not the whole receipt thing that is the issue...im sure you dont need a receipt....you need the serial number with the registration....im sure escort can trace where each unit was allocated and whether you really did buy it from where you said or whether you did just <insert major retailer here>
my POP was off by default. i turned it on and on a 1 hr trip to New Orleans for our meet, i falsed on POP 1 time... *shrug*
i also haven't noticed an increase in sensitivity, but i also haven't run my normal day commute to compare K falses...
also, each time i called Escort to talk about buying the warranty (for the X50 upgrade that got scratched) - they immediately asked if i had a receipt. if i didn't, they made it clear that no warranty or extended warranty work would be performed. so... for whatever that is worth...

took the X50 to work this morning...
i have 4 K band falses that i can expect on a daily basis. of the 4, 3 chirped in earlier/farther than previously... not dramatic distances or times here, but readily noticable. of course, door openers do not seem to have the same intensity as actual traffic radar, so i would expect traffic radar to get detected even sooner.
i also falsed once this morning on POP. i'm not sure why or how and have not yet determined how to recognize the POP falsing source. 2 POP falses aren't really a clear indicator or good statistical sample... i'll try to keep track of how often it falses and track conditions...
