Default Trunk Rattle

I have some rattle with the plastic latch on my trunk when my system is cranked. The internal plastic is rattling against the plasic housing. What's the best way to elimintate this? I tried to use a little dynamat but ended losing the function of my keyless entry for the trunk (the lock wasn't strong enough to open keylessly vice manually turning the key).

I have an 2005 AP2.

Have you done this? I'm worried about the integrity of the latch being the same. I'm fairly certain all of the mechanics of the latch are metal and the plastic is for cosmetic purposes but I don't want to be up shit creek without a paddle if you know what I mean. ie. If the plastic is used for some way to guide the moving parts of the latch in a linear direction and by removing it would cause the trunk to be unopenable.
