Default help with stereo setup

after owning MY05 for almost a month i have to say the stereo is not cutting it.. whats the best bang for my buck for speakers? i think ill need two 6 1/2 for the front? what type of speakers will replace the small ones on my door (normal tweeters?)? what size sub do people typically go with? im thinking one 10" might do??

For about $500 you can upgrade the head unit, add Modifry's DCI to regain dash controls, and get a decent set of 6 1/2" component speakers (separate woofer and tweeter). I just replaced the stock system with a Alpine 9856, Modifry's DCI and a set of Polk db6500. The improvment is quite drastic. Lots more bass, more volume and a cleaner sound to boot. All the components are drop-in replacements - no permanent changes to the car are required.

Yeah, start by reading the FAQs up top and you'll learn a lot of necessary info. Depending on what you want to spend, you have several options, but simply replacing the HU and components will make a 100% difference. If you want to add a sub, you'll also have to add an amp, and at that point, you might as well rewire the car too. It all depends on your budget and what you want from the system.
