Default Trunk release

I am struggling with an issue on the trunk release. The button inside the car releases the trunk latch no problem (therefore solenoid works). The key fob does not release the trunk latch. But wait. The key fob button does engage the relay of the alarm/keyless entry that is under the driver's seat. Also, when I put a voltmeter at the connector in the trunk for the latch (just before the solenoid), I measure 12V momentarily when I push the button inside the car AND when I push and hold the key fob button. So the key fob seems to be working and the voltage seems correct just before the solenoid it’s just that the trunk does not release with the key fob, but only with the button inside the car. Electrically, the button inside the car and the key fob show the same voltage measurement. What am I missing?? This is driving me crazy. Please help.

Did we ever get a solution to this? I've waited with bated breath for the last 6 years.

It appears mine works consistently if i press and hold down. I assumed that was the proper functionality....but maybe it isn't?
