heh..

thinking about this again... maybe we should slow down a little...

we know what you listen to - "I listen to hard rock/metal/industrial mostly but I also have couple hiphop songs mixed up in my cd's."

now, what are you wanting to spend? do you want rears? and how much trunk do you want left over?

Go with Soundstream if you want elctronic audio equipment made by a company that makes thermos' and coolers. That's right Soundstream went under and were bought up by a plastic cooler company. Soundstream was great - 10 years ago. Many a car audio company have gone bankrupt and have been bought up by others. But for my money Kicker, JL Audio, Diamond Audio, Boston Acoustics, etc. have been around and have always had quality stuff.
AndyS2, I say get the JL stuff you were going to order and you WILL be happy, or you can keep listening to hundreds of people argue about who, what, where, and why and will still have no stereo system in July!

PJK3-didn't want to write the poor guy a novel, we've all already muddied the waters enough. Just have seen a couple local shops drop Soundstream like flies a few years back and heard all of the bankruptcy transaction information from a shop owner. I wouldn't buy a Snickers S2000, so I wouldn't want to buy a Coleman amplifier!
But this all does not matter any more as I have read in another thread he already bought some JL gear.

Actually I couldent buy the JL gear since the web site tried to screw me. I havea deal going on on 300/2 and 500/1 that I am waiting confirmation on.
But allthat stuff that pj and NY are offering is very tempting too I must say.

A question though, that big ass amp over there says 500 watts sub out put for 1 ohm

500/1 is 1.5-4 ohms. And most of the JL stuff is 4ohms, what is this ohm thing how deos it affect

First of all.....Soundstream is owned by a company that makes coolers?? So f*ckin what....Honda makes weedwackers....

Soundstream, ESPECIALLY their top of the line equipment, is considered to be one of the best in the business (DaVinci, Tantula, Human Reign, and D'Argatan)
and are voted #1 a thousand times over. Dont pull crap out your a$$ if you have never used any of the above equipment. Sure the Rubicon and Van Gogh arent class A amps, (although not bad at all), Dont knock the top stuff. The tarantula and Davinci are in another league vs. the JL. You can get 5 JL amps for the price of one davinci.

Now that thats out of the way, yes its 1ohm, but so is the Tarantula Sub

Tarantula sub + D'Argatan= BOOOOOM BOOOOOM BOOOOOM

Subs that are lower in ohms handle more power....I dont think you can get a 4ohm sub that can take 1000 wrms. (I could be wrong though.) (single voice coil that is)

Oh, and one more thing.....your beloved MBQUART Q series, 699.99 a set, hand engineered in germany, are owned by Rockford. The fact that a cooler company bought soundstream doesnt make their products any better/worse. Its simple financial investments for the cooler companies that saved a company from going under.

***Hint Hint, Nissan - Renault???***

nfrs2000nyc-first off, quit talking stupid, the only thing I'd pull out of my aaaaahhh nevermind, not worth it. That's fine you like Soundstream - good for you, I am in no way saying JL is all there is, BUT I did agree with what he was buying.
Oh, by the way-have had plenty of Soundstream stuff way back when. Reference series amps and SPL series subs, they were fine, not as good as the price tag said they were!

You are telling me that you have used top class soundstream products and thought they were just ok at best??? Is that what you are telling me???

Phil.....we need to find some components that can eat about 120-150wrms without burning up....My infinitys can take about that, and focals as well.

The tarantula 10" has a 3" single 1ohm voice coil. I think that will work VERY well.
