Trying to install new stereo
Hey guys I am planning on installing this stereo, Pionner , and I called Al and Eds to see if the price match. I also asked how much would it be to install it for me and then he went on said I need all these special things to make my radio controls to work. They said the installation will cost another $120. What do you guys think?
thanks in advance

If the quoted installation price of $120 includes the cost of a dash control interface (DCI), then that's a pretty good deal since a high quality DCI like Modifry's averages around $90. Installation should take an hour at most even if they take the time to solder all the harness connections so you'd basically be paying around $30 for the labor.
If the $120 is for labor alone...I think it's a bit on the high side.

That's a 30% markup if it's for parts alone. The stereo harness adapter should only cost about $12-15. They run a business and need to make a profit so I guess it's best to keep that in mind when deciding whether that's acceptable or not.
Anyways, if you can solder or don't mind crimped connections then installing the stereo is definitely something you can do yourself. Many users have posted excellent write-ups for head unit installs. Here's a shot of the harness...lots of connections, but very straightforward.
